  • The Seat Ibiza is the Spanish manufacturer's most important model. In fact, almost half of all Seat sales are Ibizas! This was the case for many years. In the '90s, the second-generation Ibiza arrived on the market and was an immediate success. At the same time, the FIA developed a "second division" world rally championship reserved for 2-liter models, the famous Kitcars. Seat decided to enter with the little Ibiza. Success was on the cards here too! The Ibiza Kitcar won the 1996 season. Seat became the first manufacturer to win a world title in the year of its entry. This success continued in 1997 and 1998 with two further titles. These results featured drivers like Harri Rovanperä, Oriol Gómez, Toni Gardemeister, Jörgen Jonasson and Gwyndaf Evans. The Ibiza Kitcar becomes a rally legend, and the most successful car in the FIA 2-Liter World Rally Cup.
